Lindsay Fainé
Senior Vice President, Mubadala

Lindsay Fainé is the Head of Tax at Mubadala Capital LLC. Mubadala Capital is an asset of Mubadala Investment Company, a sovereign wealth fund of the Government of Abu Dhabi with more than $250B in assets under management. Mubadala Capital is a third party asset manager focusing on private equity, venture capital, public equities and Brazilian equities. While headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Mubadala Capital also has offices in New York, San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro and London. Prior to joining Mubadala, Lindsay was a partner at an international law firm where she focused on fund formation and LP tax issues in the United States and the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on advising investors who enjoy sovereign status.

Kate Habershon
Partner, Morgan Lewis

Kate Habershon advises corporations and funds on corporate taxation. Her focuses include tax and structuring issues related to fund formation, international tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, the making of investments into and by private funds, corporate finance, private equity, executive compensation, internal group restructurings, and financial products. Before joining Morgan Lewis, Kate was tax counsel in the London office of another international law firm, a solicitor on the international and energy tax teams of a Magic Circle firm, and a lawyer in the tax department of the Sydney, Australia, office of another international law firm.

Katie Sunderland
Assistant General Counsel, Investment Company Institute

Katie Sunderland is Assistant General Counsel, Tax Law for the Investment Company Institute (ICI), the leading association representing regulated funds globally, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), closed-end funds, and unit investment trusts (UITs) in the United States, and similar funds offered to investors in jurisdictions worldwide. She has experience with a broad range of tax issues that impact the investment fund community, including managers, investment funds, and investors. At ICI, she primarily works on global tax issues affecting both US and non-US regulated funds, such as treaty entitlement and EU matters (e.g., public country-by-country reporting). She is also involved in Business at OECD’s Business Advisory Group to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD’s) projects on the Common Reporting Standard (CRS), Tax Relief and Compliance Enhancement (TRACE), and the Digital Economy. Prior to joining the ICI, Katie worked extensively with private funds (i.e., hedge funds and private equity) and sovereign wealth clients as an associate with large international law firms.

Alishia Sullivan
Partner, Morgan Lewis

Alishia K. Sullivan advises institutional investors with respect to their global investment activities, focusing primarily on investments in private funds, including leveraged buyout, hedge, infrastructure and real estate funds, and direct investments and co-investments. She assists clients in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating investment documentation, including subscription agreements, limited partnership agreements, side letters, managed account agreements, and other commercial agreements. She also has extensive experience with advising clients on structuring and maintaining their investment subsidiary platforms and negotiating bespoke investment advisory arrangements and operational agreements necessary to support investment activities. Alishia is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia. Alishia is a former member of the board of directors of two non-profit organizations whose missions focus on the care, empowerment, and education of women and children. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Alishia was a partner at another global law firm. She previously worked as in-house counsel for a state-owned petroleum company in the Middle East and was a member of the global projects group of the Washington, DC, office of an international law firm.
